College of the Sequoias put up huge offensive numbers during the 2021 season, averaging nearly 10 runs per game. A major part of that was thanks to the bat of COS sophomore outfielder Andrew Valdez.
Originally out of Visalia’s Diamante High School, he ranked among CVC leaders with a .415 batting average (5th), 49 hits (4th), 11 doubles (t-3rd), 10 home runs (1st), 32 RBI (t-3rd), and 45 runs (2nd). Valdez shared 2021 Central Valley Conference Most Valuable Player honors with teammate Payton Allen.
With an impressive 20-4 record, Sequoias captured a well-deserved 2021 Central Valley Conference championship. The CVC title was the Giants' first since 2014 and fifth under long-time head coach Jody Allen. COS ended the season with a 23-5 overall record.
