Freshman Bree Johansen scored a team-best 9 points to lead the Taft College women's basketball team in a 78-28 loss to visiting Bakersfield College on Thursday. The defeat dropped the Cougars to 0-4 on the season.
Bakersfield (2-3) built a commanding 46-16 advantage by halftime and was never threatened in the second.
Johansen shot 2 for 4 from the field and amassed five of her points on free throws. She also added 3 steals and a pair of rebounds.
Sophomore Brianna Rodriguez came off the bench to score 6 points while freshman Morgan Pulido led all with 11 rebounds to go along with 3 points.
Taft and Bakersfield will wrap up a two-game series on Friday at BC. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
