REDWOOD CITY – Brylan Lundy scored a team-high 20 points while Luca Joe Ewelt had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds to help lead Cañada College to an 81-76 win in overtime against visiting Merced College on Monday. The victory came three days after the Colts pulled off a 76-72 win on the road at Reedley College on Friday night.
The Colts erased a 41-35 halftime deficit against Merced, outscoring the Blue Devils 36-30 in the second, to force the OT period. Cañada doubled up Merced 10-5 in overtime to come away with the win.
Lundy added 4 rebounds and 4 assists to his season-high 20 points. Danile Benjamin was also solid with 13 points and 7 boards.
In Reedley, the Colts held off a late rally by the Tigers to hold on for the four-point win. Cañada built a 42-28 advantage at halftime that was crucial to the victory.
Luke Mathieson led Cañada with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Ewelt posted 14 points and 8 boards, Daylen Fleming totaled 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals while Lundy had 11 points and 7 rebounds.
The Colts improved to 8-4 overall with the weekend victories. They are back in action on Dec. 22 when Cañada travels to Foothill College for a Coast Conference interdivision game.
