Porterville falls in conference opener at Sequoias

The 2019 Central Valley Conference schedule got off to a rocky start for the Porterville College women's volleyball team. On Friday, PC suffered a 25-12, 25-17, 25-15 loss at College of the Sequoias in both teams' CVC opener.

The Pirates couldn't get much offense going in the contest and totaled just 17 kills while also committing 17 costly attack errors. Juliet Garcia led Porterville with five kills and Emily Kissick chipped in with four.

Karissa Jones had a team-best 10 digs on the night while Jordan Castaneda contributed 10 assists, four digs, and three aces.

The loss dropped Porterville to 5-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Pirates return to the court on Wednesday (Sep. 25) to host Columbia College in a CVC match.
