November 27, 2019
The Hartnell Men's Soccer team played a thriller to open up the CCCAA Northern California Playoffs by winning a PK shootout against #7 Butte. The Panthers would need a disciplined effort as they traveled to take on #2 Fresno City for their second round matchup. Fresno City recently won 2017 State Championship.
The Panthers and Rams engaged in a defensive battle as both teams couldn't get the clear looks throughout the match. Fresno City finally broke through as Mason Gonzalez found the back of the net heading a corner kick from Michael Vega in the 27th minute. That goal would stand as the Rams would win today's contest 1-0 and advance to the quarterfinals.
The Panthers end their 2019 season 11-7-3.
Great season Coach Ortega and team.
