At the halfway point of the conference schedule, Fresno City resides on top of the standings with a perfect 8-0 CVC record and has won 15 straight games. Porterville nearly snapped that streak, pushing FCC to a narrow 81-80 win on Jan. 19. Columbia and Sequoias are tied for second at 6-2, followed by Porterville at 5-3.

Checking in at No. 4 in the latest CCCMBCA State Poll (Jan. 28), Fresno is the top-ranked Central Valley Conference squad. Thanks to its win over Columbia, Sequoias moved to No. 24 while Columbia dropped to a tie for No. 25. In the NorCal rankings, the CVC has four teams representing --- Fresno City is No. 2, Sequoias No. 9, Columbia No. 10, and Porterville at No. 14.

Men's Basketball Featured Athlete: Yosnier Cobas, Columbia
Sophomore forward Yosnier Cobas is having an impressive season defensively as well as on the offensive side of the court for the Columbia Claim Jumpers. As of Jan. 30, Cobas leads the Central Valley Conference with 11.4 rebounds per game and 22 total blocks over eight CVC contests.

With the ball, he's averaging 14.8 points per game in conference action and ranks second in field goal shooting percentage at 66.2 percent. Recently in a win over West Hills Coalinga, Cobas posted season-highs of 23 points, 18 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
