2017 ALL-CVC POSTSEASON AWARDS

It was another impressive season for the Central Valley Conference in women's soccer. CVC champion Fresno City College completed an undefeated campaign on its way to capturing the 2017 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Women's Soccer State Championship.

Fresno outscored its opponents by a combined 10-0 margin in the Northern California Playoffs before advancing over Santiago Canyon College on penalty kicks in the state semifinals.

In the championship final against Santa Barbara City College, FCC got goals from Sophia Zertuche in the 58th minute and Taylor Alkire in the 78th, as well as a key penalty kick save from tournament MVP Briana Castaneda to finish its magical season with a 25-0-2 record.

It was a historic day for the Rams as the men's soccer team also captured a state title.

Joining Fresno in the NorCal Playoffs were Clovis College and Taft College. Clovis earned the No. 11 seed for the postseason after finishing in second place in the CVC standings with a 10-1-1 record and closed the year at 15-6-1. Taft was named the No. 18 seed for the playoffs and lost by a score of 1-0 in a Play-in round game to No. 15 Evergreen Valley College. Taft was third in the CVC at 8-4 and finished 2017 with a 13-8-0 overall mark.

Fresno captured 10 All-Central Valley Conference postseason honors, including Coach of the Year Oliver Germond and Most Valuable Player Anissa Wilson.
