MERCED – College of the Sequoias capped off an impressive three days by winning both the men's and women's Central Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The event was hosted by Merced College.
Led by Male Swimmer of the Meet Joshy Peters, the COS men won 14 of 24 events at the championship meet to total 1,764 points and beat out second-place Merced with 1,560 points. Clovis Community College was third with 505 points followed by Shasta College in fourth with 221 points.
Peters won four individual events, taking first in the 200-yard IM, 200 free, 100 IM, and 100 free while also helping lead the Giants to five relay victories.
COS' Jillian Lambert swam to Female Swimmer of the Meet honors after winning individual gold medals in the 50-yard breaststroke, 50 free, 100 breast, and 100 free. She also helped the Giants take first in three relays.
Overall, Sequoias' women won 13 of 24 events to total 1,413 team points to finish in first place. Merced was second with 1,175 points, followed by Shasta (716), Fresno City College (676.5), and Clovis (85).
