The Central Valley Conference was well represented at Wednesday’s California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Celebration of Scholar-Athletes Luncheon. Clovis Community College women’s soccer player Halle Sembritzki was named to the 2018 Scholar-Athletes Honor Roll while the Taft College women’s volleyball team and the College of the Sequoias men’s swimming & diving squad were named Scholar Teams.
CLEVELAND -- The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) recently announced the 28 winners of the Under Armour AD of the Year Award (ADOY), including Taft College athletic director and women’s volleyball head coach Kanoe Bandy.
American River rallied to defeat Fresno City in a dramatic five sets, 25-18, 23-25, 17-25, 26-24, 15-8, in what was also the first state final meeting of two North teams in the 42-year history of the tournament.
Fresno City captured its 12th consecutive Central Valley Conference championship (2007-2018) after closing out the regular season with an 18-0 CVC record. The Rams have now won 112 straight CVC matches. Merced was second at 15-3 followed by Sequoias in third with a 14-4 mark.
