Jazmine Castaneda, Fresno City College

Fresno City College freshman Jazmine Castaneda was named the 2021 Central Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year after an amazing season for the Rams.

The Fresno native out of Bullard High School was originally slated to play at San Diego State University, signing with the Aztecs in 2020, before finding her way back home to the Rams.

Castaneda pitched in 15 games for FCC, starting 12 and compiled an 11-3 record. In 83 2/3 innings, she struck out 109 batters and ended the year with a 1.76 earned run average. Castaneda led the CVC in wins and strikeouts while finishing second in ERA.

When not in the circle, Castaneda also saw time at first base and was one of the conference’s top hitters. She batted .451 on the season with 32 hits, 9 doubles, 4 home runs, and 18 RBI.

FCC won the 2021 Central Valley Conference championship with a 12-1 record and completed the season with a 14-7 overall mark.
