The Irvine Valley women's basketball team had a busy weekend, playing on three consecutive days at the West LA Shootout.
The Lasers won two of three games to move their record to 2-2 overall on the young season.
Irvine Valley started the event on Friday against Ventura and led from the start on its way to a 66-41 victory.
The Lasers were up, 30-14, at the half and never looked back.
IVC closed out the game by out-scoring Ventura, 20-11, in the fourth quarter.
Freshman forward Alexis Price, who had a solid tournament overall, led Irvine Valley with 23 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the floor and added 10 rebounds.
Freshman forward Neryah Lokeni chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds and sophomore guard Moka Saiki contributed eight points for the Lasers in the contest.
On Saturday, Irvine Valley defeated Reedley, 71-63.
The Lasers jumped out to another big lead. IVC out-scored Reedley, 24-9, in the first quarter and led, 63-43, heading into the final period.
IVC shot 43.8 percent (28 of 64) from the field as a team for the game.
It was a true team effort for Irvine Valley with five players scoring in double figures. Lokeni led the way with 18 points and six rebounds.
Freshman forward Gianna DeForest added 17 points and five rebounds off of the bench.
Freshman guard Samantha Barnett had 11 points and six rebounds, Saiki contributed 11 points and seven rebounds and sophomore guard Haruka Mikuma ended with 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Irvine Valley finished off the tourney on Sunday and fell to Taft, 73-66, Sunday. The Lasers was behind, 23-15, after the first quarter, but made a run in the fourth period to get within seven.
Price paced IVC with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Saiki had 14 points, Barnett chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds and Lokeni had 11 points.
Irvine Valley plays again next Friday, hosting El Camino at 7 p.m.
