Bakersfield Splits the Series with Reedley

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team split the series over Reedley at home with a walkoff single by first baseman Jarrett Brannen, 7-6.

Reedly opened the game with a run at the top of the first inning and again in the fourth from a wild pitch before Bakersfield scored (0-2). Left fielder, Zamaree Tillman doubled to right center to grab three 3 RBI's; Grant Holleman, Jarrett Brannen and Andrew Townson all scored to give BC a 3-2 lead. Shortly after, Tillman came home from Gillermo Monje who singled to left field to bring the Renegades 4-2.

Into the sixth inning the Tigers found a way to tie up the ball game with a double RBI and then took their lead back in the 7th with two more runs (4-6).

Just when the Tigers thought they had the Gades, BC found a way and answered back with a single from Tillman, who then got lucky with not one but two throwing errors to bring in Brannen and himself home and tie the game once more (6-6) at the bottom of the eigth.

Casey Jasso held Reedley to no runs in the ninth and it was up to Bakersfield's offense to end the game on top. The seventh and final pitcher for the Tigers intentionally walked two Renegades to load the bases up. Thankfully, BC had cushion with no outs yet, Reedley's pitcher struck out the first batter but Brannen would be the saving grace the Gades needed to win the ball game.

Brady Fox got the start on the mound for the Renegades and went five innings, Brock Slikker relieved him for one inning, then Kyle Langston pitched for an inning while Casey Jasso pitched the final two innings collecting three strikeouts and gets the win.

With the win, the Renegades split the series. They will start their final two series of the season at home, Tuesday April 19th at 2:30.
