SACRAMENTO – Freshman Bailee Goforth had an impressive Lemoore College debut by knocking in a pair of goals while adding an assist to help lead the Golden Eagles to a 4-1 win at Sacramento City College in both teams' 2024 season opener on Friday.
Goforth, out of Lemoore High School, got both her goals late in the opening half. She scored twice during a five-minute span to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead over the host Panthers 36 minutes into the contest.
Lemoore took that lead into the second half before Goforth set up Jackie Pizano for the squad's third goal of the contest.
SCC finally broke up the shutout with a goal in the 72nd minute by Halina Ilejay but Mia Melendrez got it back by scoring just moments before the final whistle in the 90th minute.
Pizano was credited with a pair of assists with goalkeeper Dennise Beltran also earning one on a long pass as well.
Beltran totaled five saves for the Golden Eagles over 70 minutes in goal while Anahi Gonzalez closed out the victory with a scoreless 20 minutes.
Lemoore, now 1-0, returns to action on Tuesday (Aug. 27) when the Golden Eagles host Allan Hancock College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
