Falcons take down Los Medanos, Ohlone at home

COALINGA – The West Hills College Coalinga women's volleyball team continued a hot stretch of the season. On Monday, the Falcons defeated both visiting Los Medanos College and Ohlone College.

West Hills has won three straight, including five of its last six matches, to improve to 6-5 overall.

The Falcons opened the home tri-event with a 25-21, 25-6, 25-22 sweep of Los Medanos. West Hills used a balanced attack to defeat the Mustangs. Lexie Canales, Arelis Chavez-Hernandez, and Sariya Harris all had 5 kills each to lead the Falcons.

Canales also had a team-high 9 digs and Alexia Vancil led the Falcons with 10 assists.

West Hills closed out the day with a 25-12, 19-25, 25-17, 25-16 victory over Ohlone.

Harris had the big match on offense with 11 kills while adding 6 digs and 2 aces. Canales posted 9 kills and team-highs of 12 digs and 5 aces while Isabella Stevens also contributed 8 kills.

Vancil totaled 19 assists, 5 digs, and 4 aces. Bailee Costa chipped in with 8 digs and Kalissa Ortega added 13 assists and 5 digs.

The Falcons return to Central Valley Conference action on Wednesday (Oct. 12) when they play College of the Sequoias in Visalia at 6 p.m.
