Bulldogs Take Second at 2021 Toys for Tots Tournament

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball program finished as the 2021 Toys for Tots Tournament runner-up after an 82-56 loss to Fresno City College on Saturday evening. | BOX SCORE

Teams traded baskets throughout the opening minutes of play, but an 8-2 scoring string by the Rams in the final minutes of the first quarter gave Fresno a lead that they would ride out through the remainder of regulation. As a team, Hancock (6-3) shot 39 percent from the field but struggled with a seven percent showing from the three-point line. Fresno (8-1) walked away with a 43 percent shooting effort on the night and a 34 percent finish from distance. The Bulldogs won the rebounding battle at a 46-35 margin and registered 38 points in the paint.

Carlissa Solorio led the way for Hancock with a career-high night after recording 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jewelia Maniss also secured her fourth double-double of the season with a 14-point, 12-rebound performance. Alexandria Paquet rounded out the list of double-figure finishers with 10 points. Alijah Paquet closed out the evening with a stat-stuffing performance after posting seven rebounds, six assists, four steals, three blocks, and a team-high of six assists. 

At the conclusion of the game, Solorio and Maniss were recognized as members of the All-Tournament team for their cumulative performances throughout the three-day event. 

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Friday, December 10th, for day one of the AHC Crossover. They will tip-off against LA Southwest at 7 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. Tickets for the event can be purchased by clicking here.
