Women's Soccer Falls in Season Opener at Reedley

REEDLEY, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's soccer team opened the 2023 campaign with a loss on the road against Reedley College on Friday evening. | BOX SCORE

The first half of the game saw both teams struggling to find the back of the net, resulting in a goalless draw at the intermission. The Bulldogs had a total of six shots, with three on target, while Reedley managed only two off-target attempts during the first frame.

The Tigers managed to sneak a shot past the AHC keeper in the 76th before quickly managing to extend the lead with another goal just two minutes later. Offensive momentum swayed in favor of the hosts in the second half as Reedley tallied six shots, two on frame, while Hancock was limited to just three tries. 

Cynthia Ramirez led the way with three shots attempted, followed by two attempts from Kaihla Lopez and four other teammates with one try apiece. Maya Mendek suffered the loss in the box after securing three saves and allowing two goals through 90 minutes of action. 

The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, August 28th, for the home opener against West Hills Lemoore. The match is set to begin at 2 PM on the AHC Soccer Field at the Santa Maria campus.
