Thanks in part to the strength of the Central Valley Conference, the CVC's top-three finishers have been seeded among the region's top-five for the upcoming Northern California Playoffs. Conference champion Fresno City (25-3) earned the No. 2 seed, with Columbia (25-3) being named No. 3, and Sequoias (22-6) checking in at the No. 5 spot.

The three squads have received first-round byes and will play second-round games on Feb. 28-29. Winners move on to Round 3, scheduled for March 7. Two victories are need to advance to the CCCAA State Championships scheduled for March 12-15 at West Hills College Lemoore's Golden Eagle Arena.

Fresno City wrapped up its 19th consecutive CVC championship with an undefeated 14-0 record in conference play. Columbia and Sequoias both tied for second place at 11-3, followed by Reedley and Porterville tied for fourth with 7-7 records.

Ed Madec was named the CVC Coach of the Year after capturing his 14th straight conference title with Fresno City. FCC guard Keshawn Bruner was named the conference Most Valuable Player, Ryan Johnson of Sequoias took home Freshman of the Year honors, and Columbia's Kaleb Carter was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year.

Fresno City moved up a spot to No. 3 in the most recent CCCMBCA state poll to lead all CVC teams. Columbia (No. 15) and Sequoias (No. 16) both fell in the rankings but are still listed among the state's top-20 teams.
