BOSTON – Clovis Community College cross country and track & field head coach CJ Albertson continues to shine on one of the biggest stages in the world.

Competing for the fourth time at the prestigious Boston Marathon on Monday, Albertson put together his best finish, running 2:09.53 to take seventh place overall in the men's elite race. He was the first American runner to cross the finish line at the 128th running of the Boston Marathon.

Albertson was just 3 minutes and 53 seconds behind winner Sissay Lemma of Ethiopia.

His previous best finish was 10th place in his first running in 2021. Albertson followed that with 13th and 12th-place showings the past two years at the event. He also improved on his previous personal best time of 2:10.23 that he ran in 2022.

In February, Albertson competed at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Orlando. He finished in fifth place and was just three spots away from representing the United States in the marathon at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Albertson will be back in coaching action with the Crush track & field team as they get ready to compete at the Central Valley Conference Championships on April 27.
