Fresno City wins sixth straight Central Valley Conference title; 5 of 8 CVC programs advance to NorCal Playoffs

The 2022 Central Valley Conference championship once again came down to a battle between nearby rivals Fresno City College and Clovis Community College. And for the sixth straight season, the FCC Rams emerged on top of the CVC standings, finishing with a 12-1-1 record to claim the title.

Clovis was just one game behind in second place at 11-2-1 with both losses coming against Fresno. Taft College was third at 9-2-3, followed by Reedley College (7-5-2), and College of the Sequoias (7-6-1) rounding out the top five.

Those five programs all advanced to the upcoming Northern California Regionals Playoffs that are set to open on Wednesday (Nov. 16) with first-round games. Fresno, with an overall record of 14-2-4, received the conference's top seed at No. 5 as well as an opening-round bye. | NORCAL PLAYOFFS BRACKET

Joining the Rams in the postseason are No. 9 Clovis (14-5-3), No. 12 Taft (14-4-3), No. 13 Reedley (14-5-3), and No. 17 Sequoias (10-9-1).

First-round games include Clovis hosting No. 24 West Valley College, Taft hosting No. 21 Butte College, Reedley hosting No. 20 Los Medanos College, and Sequoias at No. 16 Evergreen Valley College.

Fresno will host the winner of Taft and Butte in a second-round game on Saturday (Nov. 19).

Teams will be looking to advance to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships on Dec. 2 & 4 at American River College in Sacramento.
