Giants go 2-0 in their doubleheader; begin CVC play
Giants played 2 games this past week as they took on College of the Siskiyous and Merced in a doubleheader.
COS first took on College of the Siskiyous and won 5-1. Emily Ibarra, Eliza Gamez, and Bailee Bustos were the standouts. Ibarra provided 3-for-3 at the plate and a stolen base, Gamez went 4-for-4 with 1 RBI, and Bustos had a 2-R single. Grace Chojnacki had a great performance on the mound as she only allowed 2 hits and 1 run as she pitched a complete game.
The Giants began CVC play as they hosted Merced College in the second game. It was a close game as it was scoreless through 4 innings. Emily Ibarra and Susie Ortega provided offensive performances as Ibarra had a 2-R double and Ortega had a sacrifice fly. The Giants won this game 3-0 behind Bailee Bustos pitching. She shut out the Blue Devils as she allowed 4 hits and had career-high 13 strikeouts.
COS will continue their conference schedule with a doubleheader against Fresno City on Tuesday, followed by an away game against Reedley on Thursday. They'll then return home to host Yuba for a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 1 pm.
