Falcons take two from West Hills for 5th straight win

Taking full advantage of a sun-splashed February afternoon, the Folsom Lake baseball team swept both games of a doubleheader at Falcon Field on Sunday, winning 12-2 and 13-2 over West Hills-Coalinga.  Even though the Falcon bats were raking on Sunday, it was the stellar pitching that set the tone for the Falcons.  In the opener, freshman righty Gavin Ochoa allowed just one run on five hits over seven innings, striking out seven without issuing a walk.  Sophomore Jackson Torsey closed out the final two innings to preserve the win.  Shortstop Cameron Saso had three hits and scored three runs to lead the offense.

In the nightcap, sophomore lefty Skylar Wells nearly match Ochoa's performance, allowing just two earned runs over five innings while striking out nine.  Dustin Niles and Cole Tremain blanked West Hills over the final two innings of the seven-inning game.  Offensively, six Falcons recorded multi-hit games, led by Khale Good with two doubles and a single and 3 RBI.  Good's bases-loaded 3-run double in the second inning opened the flood gates and led to a 10-run inning for the Falcons.  Sophomore first baseman Bryce Petrilla added a two-run homer in the third inning that made it 12-1.

With the victories, the Falcons improved to 7-2.  This week they'll play at Mendocino on Wednesday, then play a home & home series with Contra Cosat on Friday and Saturday.
