Bakersfield Opens Season with 3-1 Victory Over Sequoias

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College baseball team kicked off its 2025 home opener with a 3-1 win over the College of the Sequoias Giants, fueled by strong pitching and timely hitting.

Ryan Morales (1-0) led the way on the mound, tossing six scoreless innings while striking out four, and AJ Cox closed out the ninth to secure the save. Nick Martin, Jordan Mora, and Jordan Brito each drove in a run, while Jackson McDonald added three hits and a stolen base to spark the offense. The Renegades capitalized early, scoring in the first and second innings, and held off a late push by Sequoias to start their season on a high note.

The Renegades hope to continue their great start to the season. Up next, they will head north to face Santa Rosa on Saturday, February 1st then take on the Giants again at their place on Tuesday, February 4th.
