SHASTA BEATS WEST HILLS TO GO 1-2 ON WEEK

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team beat West Hills College on Friday 65-62 for their lone win on the week.

The Knights suffered a 97-72 defeat to Yuba College on Tuesday and lost 76-71 to Mendocino.

Yuba 97, Shasta 72
The Knights trailed by 17 at half and couldn't overcome the deficit. Shasta was outrebounded 48-22 in the game. Derek Gorden led the way with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists while Samer Khalil and Simmer Singh each scored nine. Yuba shot 48 percent from the floor.

Mendocino 76, Shasta 71
Gorden's 21 points and 5-of-13 shooting from 3-point range wasn't enough for Shasta to climb out of an eight-point halftime deficit. Singh scored 18 points and Khalil added 10 points and five assists in the loss.

Shasta 65, West Hills 62
The Knights held the Falcons to 20 percent shooting from downtown and their bench outscored West Hills' bench 22-13 to pull out the win. Adam Shoff scored a team-best 13 points, Khalil scored 10 points while Singh and Gorden each tallied nine points.
