Cuesta Men's Basketball continued its season-opening homestand with a win over West Hills-Coalinga, 82-78. The hard-fought victory evened the Cougars' record at 2-2 on the season, while the visiting Falcons fell to 1-2. West Hills took a narrow lead into the intermission, 44-41, but in the last 20 minutes the Cougars, led by Freshman Forward Kobe Pearson (Melbourne, AUS), answered the Falcons two-point field goals with three-pointers of their own. Cuesta converted 27 field goals on the day, including a dozen from beyond the arch, while the Falcons counted only four three-pointers among their 31 baskets. Pearson was near automatic dropping in 6-of-8 from downtown for a game-high 24 points. The Cougars also received 16 points from Ruemang Emanga (Charleroi, BEL) and 15 from Moritz Schneider (Zurich, SUI), including another trio of three-pointers from the pair, while Tyrell Edwards and Khyree Barnes paced the Falcons with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Cuesta hosts Riverside this Saturday (1 PM). The Tigers are ranked #8 in the CCCMBCA Pre-season Poll and will be the Cougars' second ranked foe this season. Cuesta fell to #2 Sequoias last weekend.
