
SAN FRANCISCO – The No. 2 state-ranked City College of San Francisco men's basketball team went 1-1 over the weekend to split its games at home in the Golden Gate Classic.
The Rams cruised to a 79-53 victory over College of the Sequoias in its opener on Friday but suffered a 97-89 loss in overtime to a talented North Idaho College squad on Saturday.
Te'Jon Sawyer scored 20 points and added 7 rebounds to lead CCSF in the win against Sequoias. EJ Neal posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds while Willie Williams III chipped in with 9 points.
Saturday's contest was a back-and-forth battle with North Idaho. The Rams trailed 37-28 at halftime but outscored the Cardinals 47-38 in the second to force OT. But in extra time, North Idaho put up 22 points to hand CCSF the loss.
Neal had a team-high 15 points while CJ Hardy totaled 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Sawyer posted 12 points and 7 rebounds and Jamir Thomas contributed 13 points.
CCSF moved to 7-2 overall and returns to action on Wednesday (Dec. 7) when the Rams travel to Santa Rosa Junior College for a non-conference game.
