CLOVIS – Prior to the start of the Clovis Community College men's soccer game against visiting Cosumnes River College on Tuesday, the Crush recognized and honored former head coach Chad McCarty.
McCarty helped launch the program at the college, leading the Crush from their inaugural season in 2016 until 2022. While at Clovis, McCarty compiled a 52-51-26 overall record over six seasons. He led the Crush to the Northern California Regional Playoffs three times and was just a victory away from advancing to the state championships for the first time this past fall season in 2022.
He was honored by Clovis Community College president Dr. Kim E. Armstrong and awarded a custom professional wrestling-styled championship belt.
The Crush, under new head coach Yaw Danso, also honored McCarty with a 5-0 win over Cosumnes River. The non-conference victory improved the 2023 squad to 4-6-5 overall.
Clovis returns to Central Valley Conference action on Friday (Oct. 27) when it hosts Taft College in a 4 p.m. match.
