Livermore, Calif. - Sophomore Rolontae Knowles led all scorers with 14 points, but the Butte men's basketball team fell to Columbia, 67-51, in the season opener at the Tony Costello Tip-Off Classic, hosted by Las Positas College.
Knowles shot 50 percent from the field with 10 boards and three assists. Sophomores Ed Mejia and Marvin Lee backed him up with eight points each.
Butte (0-1) will face Cosumnes River next on Friday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
