In a low scoring contest the Spartan women's basketball team did enough to earn the 45-41 win over Porterville College.  With the win MiraCosta gets their second of the year and will move on to the second round of the Santa Ana College tournament to play against the host.

The Spartans were led in scoring by freshman guard Deyjanae Williams, who has been a consistent scorer early in the season.  Williams scored 16 but also added five rebounds and six steals.  Freshman forward Yasi Sharp added a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Jada Hughes and Frida Caballero both grabbed nine rebounds to help the Spartans dominate Porterville on the glass.  MiraCosta won the rebounding numbers, 61-47.

Despite a cold shooting night, the Spartans did enough on the court to hold on for the win and put themselves in the winner's bracket, with a chance to win a tournament championship.

MiraCosta will play at Santa Ana College Friday at 8PM.
