
TAFT, CA – Taft College Men's Soccer, riding high after their first win of the season against Chaffey College, brought a new wave of confidence into their latest match visiting the Bulldogs of Allan Hancock College.
The Cougars showcased their determination from the start, even after going down 1-0 in the first four minutes. They quickly equalized with a goal from Andrew Caro in the 6th minute, both teams scoring from corner kicks. Taft's Jorge Casteneda then gave his team a 2-1 lead in the 18th minute with a goal off a free kick play made by Emilio Gonzalez. The Cougars dominated the first half defensively with big time plays from the back line of Kwadwo Dua, Christopher Juarez, and Lisandro Ceja.
The momentum continued into the second half as Emilio Gonzalez scored just two minutes in, making it 3-1 over the Bulldogs. The second half was marked by intense, physical play. The game's climax came in the final moments of extra time when Emilio Gonzalez netted his second goal, securing a 4-1 victory away from home.
Taft College Head Men's Soccer Coach Angelo Cutrona commented, "Today was a great team victory. Our guys played with passion and determination. We plan to feed off this win and continue to carry the momentum into next week. We have big games coming up. We are excited and will be prepared.
With this strong performance, the Taft College Cougars are eager to continue their winning streak as they prepare to host College of the Desert next Tuesday, September 17 at 3:00 pm.
