Two-run triples from Abigail Desa and Isabella Gallegos highlighted an eight-run first inning in West Valley's 12-0 five-inning win over visiting Lassen Saturday morning. The Vikings (14-5) sent 12 batters to the plate in the first, pounding out three extra-base hits that included a back-to-back two-run double from Bianca Ceja and the two-run three-bagger from Gallegos. WVC added four more in the third on a Sydney Heming two-run double and a two-run triple from Maddie Grissom.

Viking starter Shelby White silenced the Lassen (3-15) bats, striking out five, walking only one and giving up singles in the first and the third. Grissom finished 2-3 with three RBI, and Desa went 2-2 with two RBI and a pair of runs.

The afternoon game between the Vikings and Fresno City (15-3) went into extra innings, before the Rams pulled out a 4-2 international tiebreaker win in the eighth. Heming roped an RBI-single in the third for a 1-0 Viking lead, but Macey Grigsby's solo homer tied it up in the top of the fourth. West Valley starter America Maples sent the Rams down in order in the sixth and seventh to send the game into extras.

Both teams started the eighth with a runner on second base, per tiebreaker rules. After Maples struck out Isabel Gomez to open the inning, the Rams struck for three runs on Atiana Aguilar and Amber Aguilar RBI singles. In the home half of the eighth, Desa started at second and came home on a Grissom single, but the Vikings could put no more across.

Maples struck out five and gave up only two hits in seven innings of work, while Desa had a triple in the third and scored twice.
