Now that's a statement win!
The Chabot men's soccer team traveled to Fresno City and took down a powerhouse program 2-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
In 102 degree heat, the Glads thrived as a unit at the host Rams' first class soccer facility.
"Really a great team effort, stuck together and found a way to get a great result," Chabot coach Geoff Aguiar said.
The satisfying win followed a tough road loss against American River 2-1 on Friday, Sept. 20.
Chabot finishes a productive nonconference schedule with a 4-2-1 record. The Gladiators open conference play at home against De Anza at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Eloy Sierra had a great game for Chabot against Fresno, scoring in the 22nd minute off an assist from Bolade Tijani-Qudus to break a scoreless tie. Fresno tied it in the 31st minute, but Chabot retook the lead just before halftime when Hamzah Gaphoor tapped in an assist from Elvis Enguidanos.
Glads keeper Colin Nestor came up big overall with five saves.
After a four hour drive on Friday, the Glads gave American River a tough battle.
