
SAN FRANCISCO – No. 1 state-ranked and top-seeded City College of San Francisco is a win away from reaching the state championships after its 88-62 rout of No. 16 Fresno City College on Saturday in Round 2 of the 3C2A Northern California Regional Playoffs.
CCSF held a 37-24 halftime lead and put up 51 points over the final 20 minutes to cruise to the blowout victory.
Ray-John Spears came off the bench and led the Rams with 16 points. Vitor Oliveria totaled 13 points and 8 rebounds, Miles Amos had 12 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists, while King-Njhsanni Wilhite and Rickey Mitchell Jr. both scored 11 points each.
CCSF will now host No. 8 San Jose City College on Saturday (March 8) at 7 p.m. in a third-round regional final playoff game with the winner moving on to the 3C2A State Championships on March 13-16 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. San Francisco and San Jose will meet for the first time this season on Saturday.
SJCC defeated No. 24 College of Alameda by a final score of 82-64 in its Round 2 matchup. The Jaguars enter the contest with a 23-6 overall record.
CCSF extended its winning streak to 13 games to move to 28-1 overall this season. The Rams are 11-1 at home.
The Rams will look to return to the state championship tournament after coming up just short in last year's regional finals. Prior to last season, CCSF had reached eight straight state championships.
San Francisco last won a state title in 2022 and has captured five in the program's history (1962, 2011, 2016, 2018, 2022).
