CLOVIS – Clovis Community College Director of Athletics James Sewell has announced the appointment of Sadhaf Pervez Pucher as the Crush's new men's and women's tennis head coach. Clovis is set to begin competition in the sport next spring during the 2025-26 season.

"We have found the ideal candidate in Coach Pervez Pucher to lead our inaugural Crush men's and women's tennis teams," said Sewell. "She has built a remarkable coaching resume at some of the top academic institutions in the country and has experience in successfully building a program from the ground up at Southern Utah. She shares our vision of providing a comprehensive student-athlete experience that will enable us to continue building an athletics culture that is second to none here at Clovis.

"Through the many relationships she already has in place, as well as those still to be built, we are looking forward to the creation of a flourishing tennis community to be enjoyed by all. We enthusiastically welcome Coach Pervez Pucher and her family to the Clovis Crush family!"

Pervez Pucher brings over 18 years of experience developing junior, collegiate, and pro tennis players. She has extensive experience at the NCAA Division I level after coaching at The Ohio State University, University of Nebraska, Princeton University, Drake University, and most recently at Southern Utah University.

"I am incredibly excited to be named as the first head tennis coach in the history of Clovis Community College," said Pervez Pucher. "I look forward to the opportunity to build a successful program.

"Being able to create and develop a new program is very exciting for everyone in the Clovis community. My family and I are very honored to be a part of this journey."

Currently, Pervez Pucher serves as the tennis head teaching professional at Copper River Country Club in Fresno. Prior to her arrival to the Valley, she was men's head coach at Southern Utah for two seasons (2017-18).

In her first season, she led SUU to a school-record four victories, including the first team win in program history. The following year, the team continued to reach new heights as it won 15 matches and made its first-ever trip to the Big Sky Tournament.

Before Southern Utah, Pervez Pucher spent two seasons as head women's tennis coach at Drake University. She led her 2015 team to a 22-6 record, marking the best season in school history. Her squad earned a second-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference and recorded wins over such programs as Wisconsin, Wyoming, St. John's, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa State, and Eastern Michigan.

As a player, Pervez Pucher competed at Ohio State from 1999-2003 where she finished her career ranked third all-time in singles wins (99) and ranked fifth all-time in career doubles wins (91). During her time as a Buckeye, Pervez Pucher earned All-Big Ten accolades, a No. 30 national ranking, contributed to her team's No. 19 national ranking, and helped lead the Buckeyes to a Big Ten Conference championship.

A native of Warren, New Jersey, Pervez Pucher graduated from The Ohio State University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing.

Men's and women's tennis mark the second and third new sport offerings at the college next season. Women's volleyball will also take to the court for the first time in the fall.
