TAFT, CA –  After having a successful past season by having the #1 best turnaround record in the state of California, tying the record for the most wins in a single season and advancing to the second round of the state playoffs, and recording four players to the All-Conference Team, Taft College Women's Basketball Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. has been named to the NCAA College Basketball Academy coaching staff for the second year.

Academy coaching staffs were composed of Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior College men's and women's college basketball coaches and high school coaches. Coaches have been nominated and selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Coach Lagmay will be the only coach representing the 3C2A.

From July 27-29, up to 300 prospective outstanding student-athletes from the 2025-26 classes are scheduled to attend the academy, which is being held at the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina.  Every athlete was specifically chosen by an invite only selection process. The NCAA College Basketball Academies give prospective men's and women's student-athletes a sample of the college basketball experience. Organized with input from the NABC and WBCA, these developmental summer academies pair high-level basketball competition with life skills instruction. 

In addition to basketball training, skill development, and games, participants and their parents or chaperones will attend life skills courses about NCAA eligibility and compliance; the recruiting process; name, image and likeness opportunities; agents; and the transfer portal.

This College Basketball Academy is the only event NCAA Division I Basketball Coaches are permitted to attend during this period.
