FRESNO – It was a double championship day for the Fresno City College women's tennis team.
FCC's Chiara Sobenes-Palo captured gold in women's singles and teamed with Sarah Vor to claim the doubles title at the 2024 Central Valley Conference Championships. The tourney was hosted by Fresno City and took place on April 1-3.
Sobenes-Palo defeated Summer Herrera of College of the Sequoias in the women's final. It was a rematch in the doubles championship as Sobenes-Palo and Vor outlasted Herrera and Brooke Ray for the doubles title.
In men's action, Will Dau of Reedley College won the singles championship, beating Brett Castro from Fresno City in the final. In doubles, Castro came out on top to claim the championship as he teamed with Matt Coelho to defeat hist teammates from FCC Ian Mosley and Chen Lee in the final.
This year's CVC Championships featured competitors from Fresno City, Sequoias, Reedley, and Porterville College.
