CVC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS


FRESNO – It was another double-win meet day for head coach CJ Albertson and the Clovis Community College cross country program.

Paced by first-place finishes by Rhiannon Walker and Aron Teffra, the Crush women's and men's cross country teams both captured 2023 Central Valley Conference championships. The meet was held on Wednesday at Woodward Park.

The CVC team title was the fifth straight for the women while the men won the conference championship for the first time in program history.

History was also made on the women's side as Walker cleared the 5K course with a school-record time of 19:12.2 to easily claim the individual title. The Crush had six runners finish among the top-10 on their way to an impressive team score of 19 points.

Julia Martinez was second for Clovis, finishing with a time of 19:39.2. She was followed by Milca Martinez in fourth (20:33.0), Genevieve Tamondong in fifth (20:41.5), and Alyona Beams in seventh (20:53.8).

By placing among the top-7, those five runners earned All-Central Valley Conference honors.

College of the Sequoias was second in the final team standings with 50 points, followed by Fresno City (62 points), and Porterville (no team score).

On the men's side, Clovis had the meet's first four finishers, including seven among the top-10, on its way to 17 team points.

Teffra led the pack with his time of 21:43.8 on the four-mile Woodward Park course to take first place. He was followed by Guillermo Lopez in second place (21:50.8), Ethan Pricolo in third (21:59.1), and Joaquin McGee in fourth (22:03.6). With a seventh-place showing, Isaiah Watkins (22:34.2) joined the group in earning All-Central Valley Conference honors.

Miguel Marin was right behind in eighth place at 22:46.8 and William Nichols made the top-10 in 10th place with his time of 23:15.7.

Up next for both Crush cross country teams is the Northern California Regional Championships. The meet is set for Nov. 3 at Hidden Valley Park in Martinez. The women are in search of their second straight NorCal title while the men look to improve on last year's fourth-place showing.
