Central Valley Conference members Fresno City College and West Hills College Lemoore have put together impressive seasons on the mat in wrestling this fall. While the CVC does not sponsor wrestling as an official sport, Fresno City is hosted by the Coast Conference. West Hills Lemoore is a member of the six-team Southeast Conference that is comprised of Bakersfield College, Cuesta College, East Los Angeles College, Moorpark College, and Victor Valley College,

On Monday, FCC competed at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Wrestling Team Dual State Championships, but ultimately fell to Mt. San Antonio College by a final score of 32-12.

The Rams earned their spot at the state championships after capturing the Northern California dual meet championship on Oct. 16. FCC edged Sacramento City College 24-20 in the final to win their seventh straight NorCal championship and 22nd overall.

West Hills Lemoore can also claim a championship this season. On Nov. 13, the Golden Eagles won the Southeast Conference title thanks to individual winners in four weight classes.

West Hills' Marcio Botelho was named the Southeast Conference Coach of the Year while Fernando Camargo was named Assistant Coach of the Year.

On the mat, the Golden Eagles were led by conference championships from Wayne Joint at 144 pounds, Lupe Ayon at 149, Angel Solis at 197, and Taven Avila at heavyweight.

Fresno City and West Hills will both be back in action on Dec. 4 at the Northern California Regional Championships at Skyline College. Individuals will be competing to earn a spot at the CCCAA State Championships on Dec. 10-11 at Cerritos College.
