LANCASTER - The Marauder baseball team split a pair with West Hills Coalinga after winning the first game 11-5 and dropping the second 2-1.
In the first game West Hills Coalinga scored three runs in the top of the first inning off starter Austin Baker. However, that lead was short-lived as the Marauders put up six runs in the bottom half of the inning to grab a 6-3 lead. AVC extended its lead to 8-3 following two more runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Blake Leidholdt was 4-for-5 for AVC with two runs scored. Jorge Villalobos and Kyle Lathrop each collected two hits for the Marauders and Villalobos and John Reyes each had two RBI.
Andrew Elliott came in to relieve Baker and pitched four innings of no-hit ball while striking out five.
In the second game, Lathrop collected two of the four hits for AVC (9-3) as it had trouble off West Hills Coalinga starter Jacob Evangelo who struck out 10 AVC batters.
AVC starter Austin Grabbitt pitched well as he allowed only two runs while scattering 11 hits. He also truck out 10 batters.
