LANCASTER - The Marauder baseball team stepped out of conference where it has struggled and easily defeated Porterville, 8-3, to get back to its winning ways at Marauder Stadium.
Jorge Villalobos and Kyle Lathrop led the offensive charge at the plate. Villalobos was 2-for-5 with three RBI, including a bases clearing triple in the bottom of the fifth inning which gave AVC a 4-2 lead. Lathrop finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Lathrop ranks fourth in the state with 17 stolen bases this season.
Villalobos' triple and another by Ethan Avant gives the Marauders 26 on the season which leads the state in that category.
Austin Grabbitt was stellar on the mound for AVC as he pitched six solid innings allowing on one earned run on four hits.
